Speaking skills improve your performance at work and at home!

For professionals on the fast track, Toastmasters is the secret oil that keeps your engine running smoothly, a crucial pit stop in your business life. Warner Center Toastmasters has been enhancing careers and enriching interpersonal communications for our members for over twenty-five years. Why leave great speaking skills to politicians and captains of industry? You too can speak like a pro, and we'll show you how.

Every Toastmaster knows that your fears and nervousness are magnified much more when you speak before an audience -- precisely the training you need to break down the barriers to reaching new friends and business prospects one-on-one, making you more at ease with yourself.

Think of your Toastmasters club as a communications laboratory, a forum for experimentation, a friendly place where it's OK to make mistakes -- in short, a workshop to polish your personal style. Toastmasters is dedicated to helping you overcome your fear of public speaking, so why fumble around in the dark with your self-image?

If  this sounds good to you, then come join us every two weeks for a light buffet and some great speakers at the Warner Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills. The Marriott provides a wide variety of excellent meeting rooms for the largest, most active Toastmasters club in greater Los Angeles.

marriott hotelIt all comes together in a clearly defined and well-supported program of speeches and exercises that help you to sharpen your verbal skills, organize your words and gestures, and make you fast on your feet. Lose your fear of speaking in front of a large group, and you'll feel more confident speaking to anybody!

The Warner Marriott is located at 21850 Oxnard Street at the corner of Topanga. From Santa Clarita to Calabasas, Santa Monica to Chatsworth, we have active members from all over the area.

We DO meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month without fail (except Xmas and Thanksgiving). Greeting begins at 630pm, meeting/program begins promptly at 7pm. Meeting concludes approximately 9pm. Guest fee: five dollars. (To avoid high hotel parking fees, may we suggest you park on the side street behind the hotel or in the Promenade Mall across Oxnard.) This site is updated twice a month with forthcoming meeting details, so check back often.  For details, please contact:

"Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force.
The friends who listen to us are the ones we move toward,
and we want to sit in their radius. When we are listened to,
it creates us, makes us unfold and expand."

Fellow Toastmasters ~

We are elated that Susan Pepsin has just won the Evaluation Competition for the International Speech Contest, Division Level, in Glendale this past Saturday. Susan Mayberry took second pepsinplace in Evaluations on behalf of another club. This is the end of the evaluation portion of the Contest. Congratulations, Susan! Eleanor, Audrey, Jojo, Phil, Teresa, and Carolyn Goldman attended the conference event.

Rich congratulations are in order as well for Carolyn Goldman, who has gone all the way in the Toastmasters organization, achieving recognition as a Distinguished Toastmaster. Her open and accessible speaking style and friendly, supportive personality have made her a memorable presence both in our club and at other Toastmaster functions, where she has served as Area and District Governors.

At WCTM, the Nominating Committee will be presenting the slate of officers to be nominated who are willing to accept the responsibilities of their positions and to serve for the fiscal year June 2010-2011. There will be nominations from the floor as well. winners

The enthusiasm at recent WCTM club meetings has been palpable, and we're sure this coming Thursday will be no exception, when veteran WCTM speaking champion Susan Mayberry (name sounds vaguely familiar) comes back to our club lectern as Toastmaster of the Evening in a meeting themed "Color Your World". With five speakers preparing to dazzle you with their oratory and panache, and a colorful topic session from John Murray, you can't afford to miss out on this meeting (also sounds vaguely familiar, but true.)

So bring your crayons and we'll scrawl our way through another improvisational evening of great speeches and innovative talk! See you there!
