BROADBAND RECOMMENDED FOR BEST VIEWING

Editor: John C Graves   June 28, 2007      Warner Center Toastmasters   guests welcomed
"High School Nostalgia"

Words and ideas and how we deliver them can be like magic. Who knows this better than Susan Mayberry, ATM-B, soon to be sworn in as President of WCTM. Warner Center Toastmasters will break new ground once again when we induct new board members at our upcoming June 28 meeting, inductions to be directed by Past President and long time member, Maya DeBus, CTM.

Susan has led the way for our club with a series of speech, evaluation, and table topics awards at international and district competitions, and she has played a leadership role since she first officiated as WCTM President in 2000. She has served as Area Governor and Division Governor. She is also President of Advanced Speakers of LA Toastmasters.

At our last meeting, Jackie Goldberg achieved her CC designation with a rousing and inspirational speech number 10, and club members celebrated Rose Lane's birthday. Club Founder Rose would like to thank all those who contributed to make her birthday celebration possible.

Kudos to Jeff Sarnowski for his Icebreaker, Raymond Ward for Best Table Topics, Stuart Juggler as Best Evaluator, and Jackie Goldberg, Best Speaker.

Is Toastmasters the opposite of watching television?

Is it the opposite of listening to your ipod? Could be. Toastmasters is the organization where you get up in front of a group of people and talk about what you want to talk about. If this idea scares you, maybe that's the whole point.

Toastmasters is dedicated to helping you overcome your fear of public speaking, so why fumble around in the dark with your self-image? Think of your Toastmasters club as a communications laboratory, a forum for experimentation, a friendly place where it's OK to make mistakes -- in short, a workshop to polish your personal style.

If  this sounds good to you, then come join us for a light buffet and some great speakers at the Warner Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills. Among  the most prestigious and popular Toastmasters meeting locations in greater Los Angeles, the Marriott provides a wide variety of excellent meeting rooms for one of Los Angeles' finest and largest Toastmasters groups.

Warner Center Toastmasters has been enhancing careers and enriching interpersonal communications for our members for more than two decades. Why leave great speaking skills to politicians and CEO's? You too can speak like a pro, and we'll show you how.

It all comes together in a clearly defined and well-supported program of speeches and exercises that help you to sharpen your verbal skills, organize your words and gestures, and make you fast on your feet. Lose your fear of speaking in front of a large group, and you'll feel more confident speaking to anybody!

The Warner Marriott is located at 21850 Oxnard Street at the corner of Topanga. From Granada Hills to Calabasas, Santa Monica to Chatsworth, we have active members from all over the area.

We DO meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month without fail (except Xmas). Meeting begins at 630pm, gavel at 7pm. Meeting concludes approximately 9pm. Guest fee: five dollars.  This site is updated twice a month with forthcoming meeting details, so check back often.  For details, please contact:
