You too can speak like a pro, and we'll show you how! Toastmasters
is dedicated to helping you overcome your fear of public speaking, so why fumble around in the dark with your self-image? Think of your
Toastmasters club as a communications laboratory, a forum for
experimentation, a friendly place where it's OK to make mistakes -- in
short, a workshop to polish your personal style. Every Toastmaster knows that your fears and nervousness are magnified much more when you speak before an audience-- exactly the training you need to break down the barriers to reaching new friends and business prospects one-on-one, making you more at ease with yourself. For professionals on the fast track, Toastmasters is the secret oil that keeps your engine running smoothly, a crucial pit stop in your business life. Warner Center Toastmasters has been enhancing careers and enriching interpersonal communications for our members for over twenty-five years. Why leave great speaking skills to politicians and captains of industry? You too can speak like a pro, and we'll show you how.
The Warner Marriott is located at 21850 Oxnard Street at the corner of Topanga. From Santa Clarita to Calabasas, Santa Monica to Chatsworth, we have active members from all over the area. Fellow Toastmasters ~ The Division International Speech and Evaluation Contest was held this past Saturday, and Chanti Niven and Susan Pepsin competed for Warner Center Toastmasters. Thanks to club supporters Eleanor, Rose, Dr. Ed, Eva, Jojo, Michelle, Art and daughter Carolyn for coming to the event.
Chanti's speech, which many of you remember, was "Dream -- The Unborn Universe Within". "I gave it my heart, soul, guts, and did the very best job I could do. I was very happy with my performance, I thought I had nailed it," remarked Chanti, but she was edged out by Alex Stewart from the Motivated Toastmasters group. Stewart gave an inspirational speech about the 1980 Olympic Hockey team called "Winning Edge". However, Susan Pepsin, our star evaluator, triumphed in the evaluation competition and now moves on to the District Contest, where she will compete with Susan Mayberry from Division B (Yikes! talk about "friendly fire") and Will Smith from Division D. Click here for District 52 contest results. "I felt good about it this time," commented Pepsin. "I got in what I wanted to say. It is a little bit of luck -- in 5 or 10 minutes either the inspiration strikes you, or it doesn't." To view the video of Carolyn's best-of-meeting speech from our last rendezvous, "Lectern Be Gone", click on this quicktime file. There are some exciting developments concerning WCTM's website and new equipment to enhance club speeches, so stay tuned for further details.
