BROADBAND RECOMMENDED FOR BEST VIEWING

Editor: John C Graves   June 14, 2006      Warner Center Toastmasters   guests welcomed
"Summertime"

Dear Warner Center Toastmasters,

My term as your President is quickly coming to a close.  I’m very happy to say that we accomplished quite a lot, thanks to our wonderful Board.

Among those accomplishments are the following:  Videotaping of speeches, improvements to our website, introduction of guest packets, purchase of Club Banner, and organization of summer and holiday parties.  Plus, our Warner Center Toastmasters have already achieved Distinguished Club Status!  By the end of this month, we hope to achieve Select Distinguished Club Status.

I want to thank the Board for their work and dedication in improving our already wonderful club!  Each one of you contributed your time in coming to Board meetings, your ideas which created assignments, and your efforts in following through with those assignments!  I could not have done any of this without you, nor could I have had a better and more responsive Board!

LET’S GIVE A BIG HAND TO:

             John Graves, CTM-CL, Past President

Beverly Rankel, CTM, Educational Vice President

            Eva Barry, Membership Vice President

            Bill Anderson, Publicity Vice President

            Arnold Arch, Treasurer

            Eleonor Arellano, Secretary

Mohnish Sharma and Sunit Nangia, Sergeants at Arms

And, of course, our Founder, Rose Lane!

You all expressed your ideas and stimulated the growth of our club!

Starting July 1st we have a new Board.  Some of our current Board will be continuing.  John Graves will be our Publicity VP, Beverly Rankel, our Membership VP, Arnold Arch will again be our Treasurer, and Eleonor Arellano will again be our Secretary.  And, I will continue as your Past President.

Added to our new Board will be Susan Mayberry, ATMB-CL as President, Cate Bramble as Educational VP and Dan Marzec, ATMB as our Sergeant at Arms.

I know this next year will be even better because of your dedication, both as members and on the Board of Directors!

So, let’s move onwards and upwards to our best year ever – 2007/2008!

                                                                        Your Soon-to-be-Ex President,

                                                                        Carolyn

Is Toastmasters the opposite of watching television?

Is it the opposite of listening to your ipod? Could be. Toastmasters is the organization where you get up in front of a group of people and talk about what you want to talk about. If this idea scares you, maybe that's the whole point.

Toastmasters is dedicated to helping you overcome your fear of public speaking, so why fumble around in the dark with your self-image? Think of your Toastmasters club as a communications laboratory, a forum for experimentation, a friendly place where it's OK to make mistakes -- in short, a workshop to polish your personal style.

If  this sounds good to you, then come join us for a light buffet and some great speakers at the Warner Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills. Among  the most prestigious and popular Toastmasters meeting locations in greater Los Angeles, the Marriott provides a wide variety of excellent meeting rooms for one of Los Angeles' finest and largest Toastmasters groups.

Warner Center Toastmasters has been enhancing careers and enriching interpersonal communications for our members for more than two decades. Why leave great speaking skills to politicians and CEO's? You too can speak like a pro, and we'll show you how.

It all comes together in a clearly defined and well-supported program of speeches and exercises that help you to sharpen your verbal skills, organize your words and gestures, and make you fast on your feet. Lose your fear of speaking in front of a large group, and you'll feel more confident speaking to anybody!

The Warner Marriott is located at 21850 Oxnard Street at the corner of Topanga. From Granada Hills to Calabasas, Santa Monica to Chatsworth, we have active members from all over the area.

We DO meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month without fail (except Xmas). Meeting begins at 630pm, gavel at 7pm. Meeting concludes approximately 9pm. Guest fee: five dollars.  This site is updated twice a month with forthcoming meeting details, so check back often.  For details, please contact:
