Is Toastmasters the opposite of watching television?

Could be. Toastmasters is dedicated to helping you overcome your fear of public speaking, so why fumble around in the dark with your self-image? Toastmasters helps you present yourself to others with personality and charisma. Your Toastmasters club is a communications laboratory, a forum for experimentation, a friendly place where it's OK to make mistakes -- in short, a workshop to polish your personal style.

Every Toastmaster knows that your fears and nervousness are magnified when you speak before an audience -- precisely the training you need to break down the barriers to reaching new friends and business prospects one-on-one, making you more at ease with yourself.

For professionals on the fast track, Toastmasters is the secret oil that keeps your engine running smoothly, a crucial pit stop in your business life. Warner Center Toastmasters has been enhancing careers and enriching interpersonal communications for our members for over twenty-five years. Why leave great speaking skills to politicians and captains of industry? You too can speak like a pro, and we'll show you how.

If  this sounds good to you, then come join us every two weeks for a light buffet and some great speakers at the Warner Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills. The Marriott provides a wide variety of excellent meeting rooms for the largest, most active Toastmasters club in Los Angeles or Ventura Counties.

marriott hotelIt all comes together in a clearly defined and well-supported program of speeches and exercises that help you to sharpen your verbal skills, organize your words and gestures, and make you fast on your feet. Lose your fear of speaking in front of a large group, and you'll feel more confident speaking to anybody!

The Warner Marriott is located at 21850 Oxnard Street at the corner of Topanga. From Santa Clarita to Calabasas, Santa Monica to Chatsworth, we have active members from all over the area.

We DO meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month without fail (except Xmas and Thanksgiving). Greeting begins at 630pm, meeting/program begins promptly at 7pm. Meeting concludes approximately 9pm. Guest fee: five dollars. (To avoid high hotel parking fees, may we suggest you park on the side street behind the hotel or in the Promenade Mall across Oxnard.) This site is updated twice a month with forthcoming meeting details, so check back often.  For details, please contact:

Fellow Toastmasters:

I am deeply honored to have been chosen your new Madam President of Warner Center Toastmasters. As your new audreyPresident, I will work hard to ensure that our club continues on it’s path to greatness. My theme for this coming year is “Speak to Your Potential”, and in this theme I want to see all of you getting out of your comfort zone, meeting whatever challenges you face in public speaking. Push the envelope and exercise and learn new skills in your communication frontiers. Speak with your body and mind to your highest potential.

Warner Center Toastmasters has a reputation for demonstrating effective communication skills, uncommon leadership abilities, and a membership that is warm, helpful, and nurturing. We all have untapped potential within ourselves and I feel that our members, our executive committee, and our founder and myself can help anyone achieve their speaking and leadership goals.

Warner Center Toastmasters has members from all over the world and from many walks of life. But in a world dominated by personal electronics and video monitors, it's easy to overlook the most effective winnerscommunications technique of all: you.

This week, a new and fresh Topicmaster is taking our group out for a test drive: new member Denise Ratiu will lead a topic session themed "Accomplishment". John Murray will lead the meeting as Toastmaster with five speakers just itching to get behind the lectern. Joe Zaman will give his Icebreaker. And Teresa Kropp will lead the evaluation team.

Veteran member and gifted storyteller Chick Saffell is reportedly on a steady track to recovery after breaking his hip, and we wish him well. We'd like also to welcome business executive Ravi T. Achar and his wife, who've just joined.

Your new executive board met last week and discussed several issues, including the upcoming White Elephant auction to be held at Hidi Lee's home, wireless lavalier microphone for recording speeches, and a members log in area on the website.

Are you on this week's program? We suggest you click in and have a look. We'll see you this Thursday the 22nd, when you'll be "persona grata". And you'll have full diplomatic immunity, too. :o)
